A perfect day in Montecatini Terme
Some ideas for you, to create an unforgettable day in Montecatini Terme.
10 a.m.
A walk in the “Pineta” park
Start your day by immersing yourself in the green landscape of the central park of the town, where small hills, pine trees and the flow of the creek will guide you during your path, eventually reaching the main boulevard of connection, Viale Verdi. Then look up and see the amazing green frame that surrounds you.
11 a.m.
Time to drink the spring waters
You must visit Tettuccio thermal building, right alongside the “Pineta” park on Viale Verdi, and taste its healthy waters, flowing from the fountains into a granite pool. It is a magnificent palatial neoclassical building with art nouveau elements and a huge garden. The gardens are connected to the Regina Thermal Baths.
1 p.m.
Lunch with a view
Take lunch in the medieval town of Montecatini Alto high on the hill above Montecatini Terme, maybe after reaching it on the funicular railway, and explore the narrow streets lined with stone houses. Montecatini Alto is the best place to enjoy the view of the valley below, looking at the town which almost seems to be in miniature.
5 p.m.
A stroll between shops and “a Cialda tasting”
After heading back to the city centre, enjoy a stroll around the shops of the city. After that you must taste some ice cream, one of the best specialties of Montecatini Terme, best eaten together with the typical “Cialda”, a large circular sweet waffle with crumbled almonds inside.
9 p.m.
Enjoy a music festival
After dinner, in one of the many restaurants in Montecatini Terme, you can enjoy some live opera or other music. Montecatini Terme hosts many music festivals, especially in the summer season, so there is always a choice of entertainment.
