The Francis spring is a spring of healing mineral water named after Francis I. Emperor of Austria. The water is so effervescent that it is sometimes compared to Champagne by spa guests.
The statue shows the Emperor in his ceremonial field marshal uniform, with the Order of the Golden Fleece. Our town was named in honour of the Emperor as Kaiser Franzensbad (The Spa of Francis the Emperor).
The little romantic lookout tower on top of the hill reminds one of the enchanted castle in Sleeping Beauty.
The Glauber Springs Hall dates from 1930 and was constructed to accommodate the increasing number of spa visitors. It was designed provide modern and stylish facilities to take their drinking cure.
The Spa for the carbon dioxide treatments with the dry gas spring Marie is right in the middle of the town. The gas is absorbed by the skin and it lowers blood pressure and reduces inflammation.
Wiedermann Park is one of many forest parks surrounding Františkovy Lázně. It has been carefully planed and landscaped with the well-being, fitness and health of the spa patients and visitors in mind.
The Orthodox Church of Saint Olga in Františkovy Lázně is the work of local architect Gustav Wiedermann. It was built within a mere 192 working days and was completed in May 1889.
The original building containing an inn, a drinking hall, and a dance hall, was built in 1793–1795.The building fulfilled the purpose of a social centre, where the spa guests met at a common table, spent their leisure time by reading, by playing billiards, or at evening fêtes.
The Soos Nature Reserve is an area of the prehistoric Soos Forest (the “Soos Silva”).
