Leisure & Excursions Action-packed adventures

Due to its location in the heart of Germany, many famous cities and sights are only a short drive away from Bad Kissingen. A trip to Würzburg, Bamberg, Coburg or Fulda is always well worth it. But the immediate vicinity of Bad Kissingen also has many interesting and worthwhile excursion destinations to offer.

Running, walking, hiking

Bad Kissingen is ideally equipped for outdoor sporting activities. Three well-signposted Nordic walking trails of different lengths and degrees of difficulty start at the ‘Arkaden’ Bridge in Luitpold Park. Hiking fans will find everything they could wish for on the well-signposted trails in and around Bad Kissingen. What is especially attractive is the so-called ‘Kissinger Tour’ – a 25 km tour along the heights above the town, with magnificent views of the valley. And the nearby Rhön hills are a true paradise for hikers! For example, the 180 km premium long-distance ‘Hochrhöner’ hiking trail begins in Bad Kissingen. The so-called Terrain- Kurwege (hiking trails) are between 7.5 and 30 km long and take you to popular places like the Botenlauben ruins, ‘Wild-Park Klaushof’ (Klaushof wildlife park) and Frauenroth.

Postkutsche/stagecoach

It is the only stagecoach in Germany that still runs regularly – and the trip is a true experience! In proper style, to the trumpet sounds of the postillion, the historical yellow four-in-hand started its first idyllic tour in 1939. Even today, it can take nine passengers from Bad Kissingen through the meadows of the Saale valley to Aschach Castle or to Bad Bocklet – with enough time for a refreshment or a visit to a museum.
